to Buck, with love
In 1995, Buck’s health began to keep him from manning the restaurant as he once had. His absence hardly went unnoticed, missing his unending charm and gracious warmth, customers asked after him constantly with well wishes and words of adoration. A guest book was set out so those who visited could write directly to him. Here we have documented many of the notes left over the years. Some wished him good health, others wrote of nostalgic memories made in the restaurant, and even more wrote of how sorely they missed him. Above all, what rings true in every word is how cherished Buck was to his community. We share these notes with you in hopes of preserving the memory of Buck, the restaurant he built, and the overwhelming love and community he inspired.
